Biscuits and Bacon Cheddar Gravy

In a twist on biscuits and gravy, bacon is added to cheese sauce and served over flaky biscuits.

Bacon slices, raw

Biscuits
  1. Prepare biscuit dough according to directions on box.
  2. Roll dough out on lightly floured work surface to 1/2-inch thickness.
  3. Cut biscuits using a 3-inch round cutter. Place biscuits onto parchment-lined full sheet pans.
  4. Bake as directed below and keep warm until ready to use.

*Rotate pans baked in convection oven one-half turn (180°) after 3 minutes of baking.
Gravy
  1. Cook bacon in skillet until brown. Drain. Chop bacon into medium size pieces and set aside.
  2. Combine gravy mix and 1 1/2 cups of water in mixing bowl. Stir with a wire whisk until lumps are dissolved.
  3. Pour remaining water into a heavy sauce pan and bring to a boil. Stir in dissolved gravy and water mixture.
  4. Whisk until well blended and sauce thickens, about 2 to 3 minutes. Remove from heat.
  5. Stir in cooked, chopped bacon and cheddar cheese until well blended.
Assembly
  1. Split warm biscuits in half horizontally. Place bottom half of biscuit on a plate.
  2. Ladle approx. 4 oz (1/2 cup) of bacon cheddar gravy over each biscuit.
  3. Top with remaining biscuit half and serve immediately.
