A commitment to delivering the freshest and highest quality food to its customers has made Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza one red hot success. What started as a single restaurant in Fort Lauderdale in 2002 has quickly exploded to more than 60 locations nationwide with several more in the works.
The casual dining concept offers a flavorful menu of pizza, chicken wings and pork ribs—all served coal fired to perfection. Traditional and specialty pizzas, like Anthony’s famous Meatballs & Ricotta pizza, are cooked in an 800-degree coal fired oven so the crust comes out crispy yet tender and features a delicious, distinctive coal fired taste.
It all began when Anthony Bruno wasn’t satisfied with the pizza available in Florida and decided to take matters into his own hands. Originally from Long Island and a traditional Italian family, he had a passion for great food and a vision to create coal oven pizza with a well done taste that rivaled the ones he enjoyed while growing up in New York.
Anthony’s own family-inspired recipes and his steadfast dedication to using always fresh, never frozen, high quality ingredients has led to increasing popularity across the nation year after year. There are no freezers, fryers or microwaves in any of Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza locations.
“I have a simple approach to my menu – use the highest quality ingredients and charge a fair price. It’s not just the big things, or the little things – it’s everything!” said Anthony. “Dough made fresh, in-house every day. Imported Italian plum tomatoes. Chicken wings that are never frozen, and the nest Grande mozzarella … you get the picture. That’s the way we do things around here.”
The passion for quality extends to the flour used to make the dough that is made daily and stretched to order for Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza’s signature pizza crusts.
“Our dough is very important. We use only the best flour in the industry—General Mills—and we make our dough fresh daily, from scratch,” said Danielle Guzzetta, senior vice president of marketing for Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza. “We have partnered with General Mills since we opened our first location and we still use them today at all 62 locations.”
“What Anthony and his team have done in the past few years is remarkable,” said Tom Santos, account executive and part of The Doughminators™—a team of experts who work with pizzeria owners to identify the best flour to create their signature pizza crusts. “There is obviously an appetite for the amazing food and distinctive pizza that they are so well known for. General Mills is incredibly proud to work alongside Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza as they continue to grow and expand across the country.”
