Three-Pepper Sweet Potato Biscuits

Sweet potatoes are complemented with black, white and red pepper flakes in moist, distinctive drop biscuits.

Sweet potatoes, canned in light syrup, drained

Sweet potato liquid, reserved

Brown sugar, packed

1 cup
Black pepper, coarsely ground
1 Tbsp
White pepper, finely ground
1 tsp
Red chili pepper flakes

  1. Drain and reserve 2 cups liquid from canned sweet potatoes.
  2. Add sweet potatoes to mixing bowl with paddle attachment; mash on low speed about 2 minutes.
  3. Add reserved sweet potato liquid, brown sugar, black and white pepper; mix on low speed 1 minute.
  4. Add biscuit mix; mix on low speed 30 seconds to 1 minute until well combined.
  5. Stop mixer, scrape down sides and paddle and mix on low speed an additional 15 seconds.
  6. Deposit dough with #20 scoop in 4x6 pattern onto greased or parchment-lined full sheet pan.
  7. Bake as directed below and serve warm.
