Thai Tea Lime Swirl French Toast Bake

Leftover cinnamon rolls are transformed with a Thai tea-inspired custard and mouth-watering lime cheesecake swirl to transport your taste buds.

Thai tea, brewed strongly

Cream Cheese Mixture
  1. Mix cream cheese, egg and sugar in a mixing bowl fitted with a paddle attachment until combined.
  2. Stir in lime zest and hold for Assembly.
Assembly
  1. Slice each baked cinnamon roll in half crosswise to create thinner cinnamon roll slices; place shingled in rows in greased 2-inch half steam table pan.
  2. Add yogurt, eggs, cardamom, star anise and Thai tea to mixing bowl; combine thoroughly.
  3. Reserve 1 cup of yogurt mixture; pour remaining over cinnamon roll slices.
  4. Use spatula to work yogurt mixture between cinnamon rolls; cover and allow to sit for 1 hour.
  5. Drop small dollops of Cream Cheese Mixture on top; pour remaining 1 cup of yogurt mixture.
  6. Drag a knife or spoon into cream cheese yogurt mixture to create desired swirl visual.
  7. Bake as directed below until knife inserted in center comes out clean (and internal temperature is approx. 190°F).

*Rotate pan baked in convection oven one-half turn (180°) after 17 minutes of baking.
Serving
  1. Add butter, sweetened condensed milk, vanilla extract and Thai tea in a small saucepan.
  2. Heat to a boiling and simmer 3-4 minutes until slightly thickened.
  3. Serve a warm piece of French toast bake with 1 Tbsp sauce.

  • Garish with additional lime zest, a dollop of whipped cream or brown sugar boba pearls if desired. Note nutrition information will change. A great use for leftover cinnamon rolls!
