Strawberry Anise Puff Brick Toast

Enjoy this slightly sweet and lightly salty custard toast as a dessert using Pillsbury's Best™ Puff Pastry Squares topped with Mascarpone Cream and a strawberry topping.

Puff Brick Toast
  1. Thaw pastry squares on parchment-lined sheet pan, covered with additional parchment 15-20 minutes at room temperature.
  2. Whisk together sweetened condensed milk, butter, an egg yolk and vanilla bean paste in medium mixing bowl until combined.
  3. Dock each pastry square twice, pressing down firmly; generously brush tops with butter mixture.
  4. Sprinkle each piece with 1/4 tsp coarse sugar and bake as directed until deep golden brown.

*Rotate pans baked in convection oven one-half turn (180°) after 6 minutes of baking.
Mascarpone Cream
  1. Add whipping cream to a bowl fitted with whisk attachment; mix on high for 2 minutes or until thick.
  2. Add powdered sugar; mix an additional minute or until soft peaks form.
  3. Add mascarpone cheese; mix an additional minute or until thick and smooth.
  4. Cover and keep refrigerated until needed.
Strawberry Topping
  1. Add strawberries, sugar and lemon juice to a medium bowl; toss to combine.
  2. Cover and keep refrigerated until needed.
Assembly
  1. Fold star anise into Mascarpone Cream.
  2. Place 1 piece of Puff Brick Toast onto serving plate; top with approx. 2 oz Mascarpone Cream and approx. 2 oz Strawberry Topping.
  3. Garnish with 1 tsp toasted coconut and serve immediately.
