Steak and Potato Wafflewich

What a sandwich! Mashed potatoes and cheese are added to the savory waffle batter, and a grilled steak sits between waffles, stacked with lettuce and spread with a yogurt horseradish sauce.

Waffles
  1. Pour cool water and eggs into a large mixing bowl.
  2. Add full box of waffle mix and stir with a wire whisk until no lumps remain.
  3. Fold in potatoes, pepper, cheese and onions until well combined.
  4. Deposit 4 oz (#8 scoop) of batter into the pre-heated, pre-oiled waffle iron; cook until golden brown.
Horseradish Sauce
  1. Whisk together yogurt and horseradish, mustard, Worcestershire and chives; refrigerate sauce until needed.
Assembly
  1. Grill each 2 oz steak as needed.
  2. Cut waffle into quarters; top 1 piece with 1 Tbsp Horseradish Sauce, leaf lettuce and steak.
  3. Top with another 1 Tbsp of sauce and 1/4 waffle.
  4. Secure with sandwich pick and serve warm.

  • Let potatoes cool before adding to batter. If they are cold from the refrigerator, break up the potatoes with the water for the recipe before adding in the dry waffle mix.
