Parmesan Wheat Breadsticks

Onion, garlic and parmesan cheese team up in a whole-wheat yeast dough breadstick that's soft and irresistible.

  1. Pour total amount of warm water into mixer bowl.
  2. Add yeast, and stir with whisk until dissolved.
  3. Allow mixture to rest until bubbles form, approx. 10 minutes.
  4. Add roll mix, flour, cheese, onion, garlic powder and Italian seasoning to bowl, and mix using dough hook attachment on low speed to incorporate water, approx. 1 minute.
  5. Mix on medium speed 3 minutes; stop mixer, scrape down dough hook and bowl.
  6. Continue mixing on medium speed until dough is smooth and cleans side of bowl, approx. 4 minutes.
  7. Dough temperature should be 85°-90°F. Cover dough, and allow to rest 15 minutes.
  8. Roll dough to 1/2 inch thick and cut into 8 - 3/4-inch wide strips with pizza cutter.
  9. Place on parchment-lined full sheet pans and proof in warm area 30-45 minutes.
  10. Sprinkle with cheese topping and bake.
