Gluten-Free Falafel Cakes with Tahini Yogurt Sauce

A few twists on a trendy favorite makes garlicky falafel patties gluten-free, baked instead of fried, and absolutely fabulous.

Parsley, fresh, chopped

Garlic, fresh, minced

Red onions, finely chopped

Cumin, ground
1 1/2 Tbsp
Kosher salt
1 Tbsp
Black pepper
2 tsp
Cayenne pepper, ground
1/2 tsp
Eggs, large

Sauce
INGREDIENT

Tahini

1/2 cup
Lemon juice, fresh
2 oz
1/2 cup
Garlic, fresh
2 tsp
Kosher salt

Falafel
  1. Place all ingredients, with the exception of the eggs into a large mixing bowl and toss together.
  2. Add half of mixture (approx. 2 lb) to a food processor and process until blended, not pureed.
  3. Repeat with remaining mixture and transfer all of blended mixture to a large stainless steel bowl.
  4. Add eggs and gently mix together until combined. Scoop using a #30 scoop (approx. 1 oz) on a parchment-lined full sheet pan.

*Rotate pans baked in convection oven one-half turn (180°) after 4 minutes of baking.
Sauce
  1. Place all ingredients for sauce in a food processor. Mix until mixture is smooth.
Finishing
  1. Drizzle 2 tsp of Tahini Yogurt Sauce over 2 pieces warm baked falafel and serve immediately.
