Croissant Kouign-Amann

Inspired by a traditional pastry, this easy croissant version is a flaky pastry you'll want to add to your menu!

  1. Thaw croissant dough, covered, at room temperature 15-30 minutes until flexible or refrigerated overnight.
Assembly
  1. Sprinkle 1 1/2 tsp sugar onto work surface; place thawed dough on sugar and sprinkle with an additional 1 1/2 tsp sugar.
  2. Roll dough into roughly a square shape approx. 5x5-inches, pressing sugar in and stretching as needed.
  3. Make 2-inch cut diagonally from each corner towards center, making 4 flaps.
  4. Take corners of 1 flap and fold towards each other to form a pointed end like a paper airplane; press to seal and repeat for remaining flaps.
  5. Place in greased jumbo muffin cups and bake as directed until deep golden brown and baked through.
  6. Remove from pan immediately to prevent sticking; serve warm or at room temperature.
