Cereal Milk
  1. Add milk and 4 cups (6 oz) cereal to large pitcher; cover and refrigerate 1 hour to allow cereal to steep.
  2. Strain mixture through fine sieve, pressing gently on cereal to extract flavor; discard cereal.
Pudding
  1. Whisk together sugar, cornstarch, egg yolks and 1/3 cup Cereal Milk in large bowl.
  2. Add remaining Cereal Milk to large saucepan and heat to a simmer, approx. 4-6 minutes. DO NOT BOIL.
  3. Slowly whisk 1 cup of hot Cereal Milk into egg yolk mixture, then pour back into saucepan.
  4. Cook over medium heat, whisking constantly until mixture thickens, coats the back of spoon and reaches 180°F (approx. 4-6 minutes).
  5. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.
  6. Spoon into serving containers and cover with plastic wrap pressed against pudding to avoid skin from forming; refrigerate until chilled, about 3 hours or overnight.
Cereal Topping
  1. Mix 2 cups cereal with corn syrup in medium bowl; spread onto parchment-lined half sheet pan.
  2. Bake as directed below until cereal is golden brown; cool completely then break into pieces.
