Chocolate Walnut Bars

A cookie-like crust is the base for layers of luscious chocolate and finely chopped walnuts.

Semi-sweet chocolate chips

Walnuts, finely chopped

Dough
  1. Combine cake mix and butter in mixer bowl fitted with paddle attachment.
  2. Mix on medium speed for 2 minutes or until well blended.
  3. Deposit dough onto greased or parchment-lined full sheet pan and press to evenly distribute.
  4. Cover with additional piece of parchment and use a rolling pin to distribute evenly.
  5. Bake as directed below, remove from oven and sprinkle chocolate chips onto crust.
  6. Return to oven for 3 minutes more to melt chocolate chips.

*Rotate pans baked in convection oven one-half turn (180°) after 10 minutes of baking.
Finishing
  1. Spread melted chocolate chips evenly over crust.
  2. Top immediately with finely chopped walnuts.
  3. Cool completely before cutting and serving.
