Chocolate Pecan Pie Bars

Pecan pie gets even better with the addition of chocolate in a truly decadent cookie bar.

Crust
  1. Add cake mix, butter and vanilla to mixer bowl with paddle attachment; combine until crumbly, approx. 1 minute.
  2. Add eggs (2) and mix additional minute.
  3. Deposit dough onto prepared parchment-lined or sprayed full sheet pan; press evenly to form thin crust.
Filling
  1. Combine corn syrup and brown sugar in medium saucepan; stir constantly over low heat until smooth, keep warm.
  2. Combine butter, chocolate chips and cream in double boiler; stir constantly over low heat until mixture is smooth.
  3. Beat eggs in separate mixing bowl with whisk; SLOWLY add melted chocolate mixture to eggs, beating quickly to temper eggs.
  4. Transfer sugar mixture into large mixing bowl; SLOWLY add chocolate tempered egg mixture and stir until well blended.
  5. Pour over crust, sprinkle evenly with pecans and bake as directed below. Allow to cool before serving (2 x 3-inch bars).
