Chocolate Chip Scones

Brown sugar and vanilla make a sweet and tempting morning pastry--and chocolate makes them even better.

Scone Batter

Semi-sweet chocolate chips

Whole milk

  1. Place biscuit mix, brown sugar and chips in mixer bowl fitted with paddle attachment; mix on low speed 1 minute.
  2. Add milk and vanilla extract; mix on low speed 1 minute.
  3. Roll dough on heavily floured surface into 9 x 30-inch rectangle; cut into 3 - 3-inch wide strips using pastry wheel.
  4. Cut each strip into 10 - 3 x 3-inch squares; cut diagonally to make 60 triangles total.
  5. Brush off excess flour and place on parchment-lined sheet pans.
  6. Whisk eggs and water together lightly; brush tops of scones with egg wash and bake as directed below.
