Chocolate Almond Shortbread Sticks

Buttery shortbread with chocolate, almonds and a hint of lemon is easily formed in strips and cut into stackable sticks.

  1. Place almonds, cake mix, butter, eggs and orange zest in mixer bowl with paddle attachment.
  2. Mix on low speed 3-4 minutes or until dough comes together and pulls away from bowl.
  3. Press dough into greased and parchment-lined half sheet pan; chill approx. 20 minutes or until firm.
  4. Remove chilled dough from sheet pan. Cut into (4) 4-inch wide strips (vertically). Cut each strip into (24) 1/2-inch thick slices.
  5. Place slices in 3 x 8 pattern on greased or parchment-lined full sheet pans.
  6. Bake as directed below and allow to cool.

Finishing
  1. Heat vanilla icing in microwave until melted.
