Oven Fried Apple Hand Pies

Apple, fresh, peeled, thinly sliced

Lemon juice

Granulated sugar

Butter, softened
2 Tbsp
Vanilla extract
1 tsp
Kosher salt
1/2 tsp
Prep
  1. Thaw pie dough, covered, at room temp. 15-30 minutes until flexible or refrigerate overnight.
  2. Combine sugar and cinnamon in small bowl; set aside until assembly.
Filling
  1. Cook apples, brown sugar, water and lemon juice in large saucepan over medium heat until bubbly.
  2. Reduce heat to low, cover and cook 6-8 minutes until apples are tender; stir occasionally.
  3. Add flour, sugar, butter, vanilla and salt; cook until mixture thickens.
  4. Remove from heat and allow to cool 15 minutes.
Assembly
  1. Place sticky side of pie dough down and fill with 1/4 cup (#16 scoop) apple filling.
  2. Brush dough edges with melted butter; fold in half and crimp edges with fork.
  3. Place on parchment-lined sheet pan and sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar mixture.
  4. Bake as directed below until golden brown; cool 5 minutes before serving.
