French Onion Savory Swirls

All the favorite flavors of beefy French onion soup rolled into a puff pastry is an easy to eat menu item your customers will love.

Sliced roast beef, prepared

Caramelized onions, prepared

Beef base paste
1/4 tsp
Swiss cheese, shredded

Prep
  1. Thaw puff pastry sheet on sprayed, parchment-lined sheet pan, covered, either 15-30 minutes at room temperature or refrigerated overnight.
  2. Whisk 1 egg and 2 Tbsp water in small bowl and brush edges of pastry with egg wash.
  3. Reserve remaining egg wash for Assembly.
Assembly
  1. Leave a 1/4-inch strip open along one long edge and cover remaining pastry evenly with roast beef slices.
  2. Mix caramelized onions and beef base paste together and spread over roast beef.
  3. Add cheese then roll towards open strip into a tight pinwheel.
  4. Brush egg wash over puff pastry dough then slice into 12 pieces.
  5. Place flat side down into generously sprayed muffin tins; brush edges with remaining egg wash.
  6. Bake as directed below until dough is flaky and golden brown; serve warm.

  • To make slicing easier, wrap and freeze whole roll 15-20 minutes or refrigerate overnight.
  • Garnish with balsamic glaze or horseradish mayonnaise and chopped fresh chives if desired. Note nutrition information may change.
