General Mills Foodservice Dishes Up New K-12 Recipe Collection

Fresh, fun recipes designed for schools by chefs who understand the cafeteria front lines

MINNEAPOLIS (June 9, 2025)— General Mills Foodservice is serving up a fresh batch of inspiration for school meals with the release of its “Menu Solutions: K-12 Recipe Collection,” a new recipe guide created specifically for school foodservice programs. Designed with labor-saving prep and student appeal in mind, the collection features two dozen kid-approved menu items for breakfast, lunch and a la carte meal occasions.

General Mills Foodservice created “Menu Solutions: K-12 Recipe Collection” to help school nutrition professionals serve meals that are fun and flavorful, appeal to kids of all ages and work within a K-12 foodservice environment. It is the latest in a series of recipe guides from Chefs of the Mills™, a culinary team dedicated to helping foodservice operators thrive, and was lead by Chef Heather Swan, who previously worked in a large school district where she helped to create recipes and train staff.

“I know firsthand that it takes a lot of homework to plan school menus which have to balance taste, trends, and practicality,” said Chef Heather. “Our team is proud to share these recipes, many of which are familiar favorites with modern, kid-friendly twists, to help schools save time, meet nutrition guidelines and keep students well-fed.”

Highlights include unique breakfast items such as Chai Caramel Pancake Squares or Cinnamon Roll Muffins to Do-It-Yourself Meal Kits like a Corn Chex Barbacoa Bowl to dishes with globally-inspired flavors such as Beef Biscuit Tostadas, Garam Masala Spiced Cornbread and Mediterranean Meat Pies.

Each recipe includes a prep scale icon to gauge labor needs at a glance, plus chef’s tips with pro guidance on garnishing, substitutions, and serving ideas.

Meet Chef Heather at ANC: She’ll be on-site at the School Nutrition Association’s Annual National Conference (July 13–15, 2025, in San Antonio, TX) at the General Mills Foodservice booth (#1345) with demos and samples from the collection. Printed recipe booklets will be available.
